Puli Kirai is a traditional recipe which is made in every household in South India. This vegetable is like sambar which is served with rice. You can also pack this in your lunch box.  Tamarind, spinach, sugar, green chilli, salt, oil, mustard, gram dal, curry leaves, dry red chilli   Tamarind, a little 200 grams of spinach Sugar, a pinch 4 green chillies Salt, as per taste 1 teaspoon oil for tempering 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon gram dal 2 sprigs curry leaves 2 dried red chillies     10   20     To make Puli Kirai, first clean the spinach and wash it thoroughly. Now add spinach, green chillies, salt, sugar in a pressure cooker and mix. Add tamarind and some water to it. Cook for 1 whistle. Let the pressure release and keep the spinach separately. Put spinach mixture in a blender and grind it. Take it out in a bowl. Now heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds in it and let it cook for 10 seconds. After that add chana dal and cook till it turns light brown. Add this tempering to the spinach mixture and mix. Serve. Serve Puli Kirai with Beetroot Thoran and rice for lunch.
