Ulava Charu Recipe – Horse Gram Rasam (Recipe In Hindi)

Ulava Charu is a Karnataka recipe in which kulitha dal is cooked like a stew. Kulith water is cooked in onion tomato and coconut paste. It is easy to make and is considered very good for health.  कुलीथ दाल, नारियल, प्याज, टमाटर, हरी मिर्च, सुखी लाल मिर्च, कढ़ी पत्ता, हल्दी पाउडर, नमक, तेल   1 cup kulith dal 1/4 cup coconut 1 onion, chopped 1 tomato, chopped 1 green chilli 3 dry red chillies curry leaves, chopped 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder Salt as per taste 1 tablespoon oil     10   30     To make Ulava Charu, first wash the lentils and soak them in water overnight. After soaking, cook the dal with 2 cups of water for 15 minutes. Keep aside to cool. After cooling, separate the dal and water with the help of a strainer. Keep the water separately. Now add coconut, onion, tomato, curry leaves, green chilli and dry red chilli in the mixer grinder. Grind it and make a paste. Now heat oil in a pan. After heating, add ground spices to it. Let it cook for 6 to 8 minutes. Keep stirring in between. After 6 to 8 minutes, add lentil water and let it cook for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, turn off the gas and serve hot. Serve Ulava Charu with rice and Tamil Nadu Style Broccoli Poriyal for lunch.
