Tomato Gojju (South Indian Style Tomato Curry Recipe)

Tomato Gojju is one of the easiest side dish (South Indian Style Tomato Curry Recipe) that can be made, especially when you are pressed for time. Tomatoes are cooked with jaggery and a couple of spices to make this quick accompaniment for rotis or rice. This no onion no garlic side dish is also good for those days when you have majorly tomatoes alone in your crisper. Sweet, spicy and tangy Tomato Gojju with Roti or Rice along with Paruppu Podi makes for a quick weekday or lunch box meal.  Tomatoes, Green Chillies, Curry leaves, Jaggery, Turmeric powder (Haldi), Oil, Mustard seeds (Rai/ Kadugu), Cumin seeds (Jeera), Asafoetida (hing), Salt   4 Tomatoes , chopped 2 Green Chillies , chopped 8 Curry leaves 2 teaspoons Jaggery , grated 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder (Haldi) 2 teaspoon Oil 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds (Rai/ Kadugu) 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds (Jeera) 1/2 teaspoon Asafoetida (hing) Salt , to taste     10   15     To begin making Tomato Gojju (South Indian Style Tomato Curry Recipe), first heat oil in a wok.Add the mustard seeds.Once they splutter, add the cumin seeds, hing, turmeric powder, curry leaves and green chillies.Saute for a few seconds and then add tomatoes, jaggery, and salt.Cook covered for 3-4 minutes.Cook Tomato Gojju uncovered for 3-4 minutes more or till the tomatoes soften and some of the water evaporates.Serve Tomato Gojju with Roti or Rice along with Paruppu Podi.
