Spicy Potato Roast is also called Urulikizhangu Poriyal in South India. Bengalis also make a similar potato dish which they call Aloo Bhaja. Boiled potatoes are cooked with mustard seeds and other spices until the potatoes turn golden. When the potatoes cool down, cut them into medium sized pieces and add turmeric powder, salt, red chilli powder to it. Now heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida and fry for 10 to 15 seconds. Add boiled potatoes and mix well. Now slow down the gas and cover the pan. Cook the potatoes until they become crisp, stirring occasionally. Check the salt and seasoning once again and then serve hot. Serve spicy potato roast with panchmel dal, boondi raita and phulka for lunch.
