Okra Bamia Recipe

Bamia is a simple Okra (Bhindi/Lady’s Finger) and Tomato stew, popular across the Middle East. Okra is gently simmered with tomatoes to make this classic dish, which can be served with Rice or bread. Meat may also be added to this stew, but this vegetarian version is equally delicious. Use tender, fresh Okra so that they cook well.  Bhindi (Lady Finger/Okra), Tomatoes, Onion, Garlic, Coriander Powder (Dhania), Red Chilli powder, Lemon juice, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Salt   13 Bhindi (Lady Finger/Okra) 4 Tomatoes , blanched, skin removed and blend to a paste 1 Onion , chopped 2 Garlic , minced 1 teaspoon Coriander Powder (Dhania) 1/2 teaspoon Red Chilli powder 1 tablespoon Lemon juice 2 tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil Salt , to taste     20   25     To begin making Okra Bamia recipe, first heat oil in a saucepan and let it heat.Add the onion and garlic and sauté till the onion becomes translucent.Add the coriander powder, chilli powder and okra and stir fry for a minute.Add about 1 cup of water to the okra and add salt.Bring it to a boil and cook for another 2-3 minute.Now add the tomato paste and stir it, cook the mixture with the lid on top at a low heat.Wait till the okra is cooked and see to that the sauce is thick. Add the lime juice and give it a good mix.Butter Garlic Naan or Saffron Pilaf can be served with Bamia Okra Recipe.
