Matar Ki Tehri Recipe

Matar ki Tehri recipe is a traditional recipe which is made in homes of Uttar Pradesh. To make this dish, rice is cooked with spices and green peas. Tehri is a little different from pulao. Tehri is a little wet and sticky. Use fresh green peas in this, if fresh peas are not available then you can also use frozen peas. Make it for your daily meal or pack it in your lunch box.  चावल, लॉन्ग, दालचीनी, पूरी काली मिर्च, बड़ी इलाइची, सुखी लाल मिर्च, घी, प्याज, टमाटर, अदरक, हरे मटर, हरा धनिया, तेज पत्ता, नमक   1 cup rice 4-5 long 1 inch cinnamon 1 tbsp whole black pepper 2 large cardamoms 1 dried red chilli 3 tbsp ghee 1/4 cup onion, cut thinly and straight 1/4 cup tomato, cut thinly and straight 1 /4 inch ginger, grated 1 cup green peas 1/4 cup coriander, finely chopped 1 bay leaf Salt as per taste     20   30     To make Matar Ki Tehri recipe, first soak the rice in water for 1 hour. After getting wet, drain the water and keep it aside. Now soak peas in a cup of hot water. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker. Add cloves, cinnamon, whole black pepper, black cardamom, dried red chilli and cook on low flame for 1 to 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, add onion and ginger and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. When the onions start turning brown, add tomatoes, green peas and cook for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, add green coriander, bay leaves, rice, salt and mix everything well. Add water as per requirement, mix and close the cooker. Cook for 1 whistle, reduce the flame and let it cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Once cooked, turn off the gas and let the pressure release on its own. After the pressure is released, open the cooker, mix with a spoon and serve. Serve matar ki tehri recipe with boondi raita and papad for lunch.
