Garlic Dal Recipe

Garlic Dal is one of the simplest but the yummiest dal to prepare. If you love garlic then this will surely go into your list of favorites. This creamy dal is filled with the garlic punch along with it being spicy and tangy. Garlic dal is best served with hot lachha paratha or steamed rice or ragi mudde along with a dollop of ghee.  Arhar dal (Split Toor Dal), Tamarind Paste, Green Chillies, Garlic, Salt, Oil, Mustard seeds (Rai/ Kadugu), Curry leaves, Coriander (Dhania) Leaves   1 cup Arhar dal (Split Toor Dal) , or moong dal 1/4 cup Tamarind Paste 5 Green Chillies , adjustable 10 cloves Garlic Salt , to taste For tempering 1 tablespoon Oil 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds (Rai/ Kadugu) 10 Curry leaves Coriander (Dhania) Leaves , as required for garnishing     10   30     To start the preparation of Garlic Dal, pressure cook the dal well and let it cool.Dry roast the green chillies.Blend the cooked dal, roasted green chillies, garlic, tamarind paste, salt in a mixer till the dal turns smooth.Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and curry leaves. Let the curry leaves crackle. Add the blended dal and immediately switch off the flame. Do not heat the dal. If the dal cooks then it will lose the raw garlic flavour. Garnish with coriander leaves.Serve the Garlic Dal hot with lachha paratha or steamed rice or ragi mudde along with a dollop of ghee.
